An introduction from Michael Brown - FA Qualified coach, level 1.
I have been the coach of Maidenbower Colts under 7s since 2002, during which time well over 150 boys and girls have gone through our training and the majority of them continue to play, not just for Colts, but for clubs in the area, nationally, even abroad!
The club's ethos is for children in years 1 and 2 to have FUN!. We take ANYONE who is interested in learning to kick a ball, pass, to score goals and just play the game.
Training is every Saturday from 9.45am until 11.30am on the large playing field at Maidenbower Junior School. We do train in ALL weathers, so please ensure your child is dressed to suit the weather and that they always have a drink with them. Your child MUST wear shinpads (FA rule and condition of insurance). The first session is free to let your child see if they like it (or me!), then only £2.00 a session thereafter. You only pay when your child trains and there is no registration fee. By far the cheapest baby-sitting service in Crawley!
Hopefully your child will enjoy it and, when they go into year 2, join our under 7s teams and continue to progress through the age groups onto Senior football. When they walk out to play at Wembley, remember where they started!
Unusually, I coach this age group every year, so, during the season I will be hoping some budding Ferguson, Wenger, or Ron Manager will step forward to take on a team at under 7s the year after. The club actively encourages any adult to take the FA coaching course and we mentor to ease you in.
